Founded in 2005 by brothers Elijah Nakoli Wafula and Evans Sakani Wafula, Mahogany Defined General Contractors was the product of a shared vision and a decade of dedication. For ten years, we worked side by side, mastering the intricacies of construction and leaving a lasting imprint on the industry. Eventually, our paths diverged Evans ventured into the promising frontier of sustainable energy development, while I, Elijah, felt a strong pull to return home to Kenya. I was inspired to put into practice all that I had learned, with a renewed purpose and a focus on homegrown impact.

And so, Sage Development Ltd was born. First established as a sole proprietorship in 2016, it evolved into a partnership with the invaluable support of my future wife, Caroline. The name "Sage" was carefully chosen, drawn from the teachings of Kenyan philosopher Henry Odera Oruka. He described African Sage Philosophy as a tradition of wisdom rooted in rational inquiry, where respected individuals critically examine the foundations of our ideas and the way we understand the world. This philosophy resonated deeply with me it reflected how I saw development, community, and progress.

With that inspiration, Sage Development Ltd set out with a clear mission: to redefine housing in Kenya by creating affordable, sustainable, and community-centered developments in both rural and urban settings. Our vision goes beyond construction we aim to uplift lives, honor indigenous knowledge, and promote eco-conscious living. Every project we undertake integrates locally sourced materials, modern energy efficient technologies, and advanced construction methods, all designed to be environmentally responsible and economically accessible.
